Brand New Year, Brand New Toddler

Before Christmas, 9-month-old Laura was just starting to test out her walking legs, taking a few unaided, tentative steps here and there. However, over the holidays, with all the visiting and traveling, she went on hiatus and regressed to crawling. Once we were home again and settled back into our normal routine, though, she plowed on with the walking full force! By New Year's Day she had it down, and she has now, at 10 months, graduated to Toddler. This was a happy and sad moment. I am thrilled and so proud of her for being such a go-getter - she is the most independent, unafraid-to-try-new-things little kid. But at the same time, this newfound skill, in the most literal sense, means I officially don't have a baby anymore (not to mention the new levels of babyproofing that must take place!) Along with all this walking, she has discovered a love for climbing, as well. Time to secure all the furniture to the walls? I think so.
