Eight

Today was our eighth anniversary, and I still love this guy as much as I did the day I married him. Probably more. I remember last year, our anniversary was rough. We were going through a rough patch, and I remember bickering our way through dinner and going out to a movie where we didn't have to interact with one another. Luckily, we've moved past that, and although we weren't able to get a sitter tonight to fully enjoy each other's company, we had a pretty great time. We went to Kelsey's because a) we had a gift card, b) its kid friendly, and c) its Laura's favourite, so chances were the kids would behave themselves better and eat their food. And it went pretty well (Laura informed us she was using her "anniversary manners"). The food was nothing spectacular, but it got the job done. And, that being said, Josh and I did split an alcoholic milkshake for dessert, which we ended up fighting over, to the point that he plugged my nose while I was trying to use the straw - it was that good. :) We had a good laugh and then decided to go for a stroll in the arboretum down the street afterward. Laura took a few anniversary pictures for Josh and me, and the kids had a blast running around like wild maniacs. It was just really great, and I'm feeling so happy and content with our eight-years-in life. <3 Happy Anniversary, Babe!

Happy 3rd Birthday to Rache!

Today is Mother's Day, and three years ago today, I was bringing home my second little bundle of joy! Happy birthday to our little Bee! We love you so much, and love that you are our funny little goofball. You are just the sweetest.

Rachel was very excited when she woke up this morning to finally be able to tell everyone she is "this old!" -->

We got all dressed up and went out for brunch at the mountain. Rache picked out a mini cupcake from the dessert table, and while she was in the bathroom, I had our waitress bring her a candle for it.

When we got home, the girls played outside with their new bubbles, and Rachel practiced diligently to not blow too hard and pop them before they were released from the wand. When she finally figured out the right air pressure, she erupted in fits of giggles after every success.

Rachel got some time to wrestle with Daddy and Laura, during which she was dubbed 'The Rhinoceros' for her head butting moves (loved it). And Grandma came over for dinner and brought souvenirs from her cruise in the Mediterranean. I think she had a pretty great day, and we're all looking forward to her party next weekend, it's gonna be a good one!

To Be Two

Next week my baby turns three. Which means she won't really be a baby anymore. :(
She's a busy little girl now and will not be confined by walls; she always wants to play and go outside. So it was no surprise she wanted to go for a walk on a beautiful sunny day like today. I just had to marvel at her beautiful young spirit: squealing in excitement to see the first dandelions of the season, squawking in excitement as the ducks flew low over the lake, happy as a clam just to wade in the freezing cold lake and dip her sundress, running up and down the hills over and over again. Wouldn't it be nice if such simple joys still brought us so much pleasure? They did for me today. <3
